Hello Fife Fans, it’s Mr Dan Fife the Advertiser again! I am here to talk about my experience in the Marti Gras in New Orleans that took place February 28, 2017. The theme was the Krewe of Zulu. I stayed at a Motel in a suburb called Marrero and took a cab from motel to downtown to save myself the parking and pedestrian issues. I booked my motel in October for fear of “Be prepared to be up all night. Downtown was busy with people attending the Marti Gras. People were dressed up in various costumes, such as a Ghostbuster, Stay Puffed Marshmellow Man from Ghostbusters and Star Wars Storm Troopers, to attend the party and be in the spirit. There were many religious protests in downtown New Orleans. There were people playing music in downtown. There were many people watching in balconies above. Many stores such as Walgreen’s and restaurants such as the bars and Krystal Chicken were busy, but the store clerks moved the customers along fast. There was even a store that sold parodys of the Cat n the Hat Thing 1 and Thing 2 calling it Trouble 1 and Trouble 2. There were a lot of police patrolling the event. It got more and more crowded as the day went on. There were many parade floats, such as Aladdin, Santa, Smurfs, the army trolleys, an Alligator and various different stuff that was very colorful. That was soo cool and awesome to see!! The parade ran from 8 am to 8 pm. Many people were cheering during the parade and during the parade they were throwing beads. That’s to get women to flash their breasts, but they no one did that, as I guess the police there are strict of that. This was as hectic as Bike Week. I got tired near the end and got back to my place at 6 pm. I Was able to hail a cab home. Sad how people at first were not cooperative of helping me get a cab. Well, anyhow you should all visit the Marti Gras when you have a chance and be safe when you do. Many of my friends warned me of drunks and bad people. I did meet some weird people and one even dared to put his hands on me. There were many homeless people on the streets and lots of litter on the streets too. There are pics below to look at and its not all inclusive as I took so many pictures.
