It’s that time of year again everybody. Tomorrow (Sunday, January 22, 2017) is the Patriots Game. The Teams playing in this event are the Steelers that is based out of Pittsburgh and the Patriots that is based out of New England!! These are renowned players. Who do you want to win????? I am rooting for the Patriots as they are from New England. It is playing at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Last week’s game played there too. I even had some friends go there in person and watch the game there. I bet that was an exciting experience. To be honest I have never watched a game there but I should. The game starts at 6:40 pm, so get your position for watching the game before that. There will be entertaining commercials too. Come and watch the Patriots Game at these hot spots: Brookside Pizza / Tap Sports Bar in Belmont, the 405 Pub and Grill in Laconia, the Looney Bin in Laconia located near Funspot or Cactus Jacks in Laconia, as they have a great atmosphere for watching games and have TVs and foods one would have while watching the game, like Nachos, Wings and Beer. To ask, what is your favorite place to watch the game and favorite snacks to have when watching the games? They get busy during these events too! Many people will come with groups of friends to watch them. People love to cheer when their sports game is winning. I can imagine the stadiums at these events are crowded. Only 15 days left till the Super Bowl, wow already??? Time flew by since the last one. Be sure to tell any of the establishments you visit to watch the game that Dan Fife recommended you there! In Addition wear t shirts of these teams to support them while watching the game!
Just this week the Limited had announced closing many stores and is now closing all of them this weekend. Things must have been really bad for them to close so fast. They had one in the Steeplegate Mall years ago. Macy’s announced closing 68 stores and for months had been saying up to 100 stores, it took them till after Christmas to identify which ones however. Sears is closing 42 stores all around the nation. In addition, Sears Holdings is closing 78 Kmarts in addition to the 30 Kmart’s closing last week. Every 100 days Kmart announces a wave of closings! Things have gotten bad for them for 2 decades and gotten worse in the last 5 days, even worse than when they were bankrupt in 2002-2003. I feel its only a matter of time before Kmart crashes and burns. When you think it will go? I’d like your input. Kmart is beyond saving. Kmart will have 630 stores left after this last wave, closed 200 in 2016, well they had over 1000 left in 2014, 1500 left in 2003, 2200 in 1999 or 2000. Its like Woolworth where instead of shut them all down at once, they close them in waves. Kmart has been more recently closing last stores in some regions (like last one in some major areas like Louisville, Augusta GA, Sioux Falls and Jacksonville and Southwest Florida) and Florida has taken the hit, well Wal-mart’s presence there is like CVS around here. Texas took a hit years ago as that’s Wal-mart’s strong hold. Kmart is even closing many stores in its own stronghold, in Michigan esp around the Detroit area where its roots started. Kmart’s first store is closing (I will write a story on that more down the road), its in a Detroit suburb called Garden City and it opened in 1962. Sears is even selling off Craftsman tools, something that drew many people there. The Sears part has been faring better than Kmart but they have been losing stores too. I’d be sad if we lost the Sears part. For Kmart, I used to worry of it a lot, now its so what and I am desensitized. All Management of Sears and Kmart wants to do is wring out every value of the company they can. Of mall anchors closing due to their parent chains in trouble, I feel what malls can do with these empty space is repurpose them into an outdoor downtown like shopping area with stores, entertainment stuff, popular restaurants, an IMAX stuff you don’t find in malls like ice skating and aquariums. Everyone says online shopping is hurting retail and it has for the last couple years. I feel there will always be a need for retail stores, as people want to see and feel the products and cant sit at their homes all the time. Shopping malls is a good reason to get people out of their homes. I went to a new mall in Cincinnati last summer and it was a mixed use center with indoor and outdoor retail, apartments, entertainment and a train model. That’s going with the times. Retailers need to adapt with the times. One problem of malls can be is that they charge high rents. Some have, some haven’t. Kmart never has and many of their stores look the same as they did when I was a kid. Their electronics department is smaller, I have been to ones w cracked floors, half lit lights and 30 times less Customers than the nearby Walmart. They are a washed out retailer. They were the go to store until deeper into my childhood. Should Sears bring back mail order catalogs like it did? Id love your input on that. But some chains are doing fine despite all this slow down in retail. I admit some chains over expanded, and sometimes a chain needs to go on a diet, like close some and open in more productive areas.
Here are some videos of people relaxing after their great New Years celebrations. Check it out!
CHRISTMAS From NEW York to Florida to Punta Cana, AKA CHRISTMAS IN PARADISE
Hello everyone and this is a message from the Adventurous Dr Dan Fife. I went on a Christmas themed trip 1-2 weeks ago. I went to New York City to see the Tree Lighting, but I didn’t know I had to have tickets to get up close. Oh well, there is always next year for that. I went to see other decorations. The windows in some of the stores were beautiful as they were colorful and well Christmas decorated. They had creative Christmas designs in them too. At Night, one place on 5th ave would light up and have Christmas singing in which ppl would stop and watch. I have recorded a video of it.
I then flew to Orlando to see their Christmas themed stuff at its parks. I went to Disney World and saw a big Christmas tree and Christmas decorations there. I attended it’s Christmas Party. They had a Christmas parade float with characters on it. Cinderella’s castle lit up to an ice color. I attended a Christmas show near Tomarrow land where people sang and danced and Buzz Light year and the Green Guy from Monsters inc joined in. The next day I went to New Port Richey to scope it out. After New Port Richey, I went to Sea World in Orlando for their Christmas events. It was nicely decorated with Christmas decorations and lights. I attended a Christmas singing show, an ice skating show and a Shamu Christmas show. I Saw Christmas decorations on International Dr in Orlando. The next day I went to Universal Studios for their Christmas events. I attended a Grinchmas Breakfast Brunch at the Islands of Adventure part of the park, where they had people dressed up as Dr Seuss Characters and the Grinch. I loved having my picture taken with the Grinch. That was great seeing the Grinch in Florida as he is from Mount Crumpit. I went to watch a retelling of the Grinch that was nearby in the Dr Seuss area. Later that day after going on the ET , Marvel, Simpsons and Harry Potter rides, I went to see the Universal Studios Thanksgiving Parade on the main part of the park and there were parade floats of Santa and Sponge Bob. After the parade, they lit up a tree in the New York area and had Christmas decorations on buildings. I then had dinner at a Hooters in Tampa and they had a Christmas tree there. Imagine a Christmas tree in a hot restaurant place, a pin literally.
Next Morning I left for Punta Cana for a couple days in Paradise. On top of going to the Beach and going on a pirate tour, I saw Christmas trees and decorations at Punta Cana and Higuey. The people in the Dominican celebrate Christmas like we do!
After Punta Cana, I then went Back to the US, where I went to Washington DC to see their National Tree which is near the White House. The Union Station near the Capitol had Christmas decorations
The airports and hotels in all the places I Went to had Christmas decorations too. Many of the larger stores were busy due to people Christmas shopping too. Below, are pictures of the Christmas decorations in each place (in order of when I got there to getting home).
This article talks about how a woman who is a traveling Ambassador visited EVERY COUNTRY on the planet. There are many pictures in the article above of her accomplishment and they are colorful and will excite you! She did many of the exciting things these places have to offer. She took pics of these places and never goes anywhere without her camera, I don’t too. That is quite an accomplishment and she was young to do it, as she was 27! Wow. You all know a special someone who accomplished going to all 50 states at age 31 in 2014. in July 2015 she had been to 181 countries with 15 left. She is quite dedicated and it takes a lot of dedication and determination to accomplish something like that. In the pics she looks happy and proud she has done this!
Last Week I saw took a boat with to Blue Lagoon Island in Bahamas from the Paradise Island. We had Dolphin Orientations learning about the Dolphins, and then we were allowed to explore the gift shop. We then went in a pool that connects to the ocean where we interacted with the Dolphins. Each Person, including myself, interacted with the dolphins with letting it kiss us, rib its belly, listen to it make noise, dance while music was playing and that was a fantastic experience. The Trainers reward the dolphins by feeding it fish and the dolphins are gentle and very harmless. The Dolphins are so smart that they are able to obey the trainers commands. They had Stingrays too. There were waterslides and eateries on the island too. I recommend you try it when you are out there and that will be a memorable thing.
